Stay-at-home dad has its perks.
Eddie Jordan dropped off his two youngest children at the bus stop in the morning. He dutifully picked them up in the afternoon.
He spent his days on lunch dates with his wife, or maybe grabbed his clubs and played a round or two of golf.
“Let me say this, winter golf is brutal in the east,” Jordan said, laughing.
So is unemployment.
When the wife and kids went to bed, Jordan would stay up all night watching NBA games.

Elton Brand finally began to feel like his old All-Star self at a Los Angeles gym where summer pickup games featured some of the NBA’s top stars. Brand, Paul Pierce, Ron Artest, Emeka Okafor all played for hours, usually with no refs, banging and shoving and dishing out all kinds of abuse.
Those rugged games prepped Brand like no solo workouts could.
Brand had the power and explosiveness from his left leg that had all but vanished after he ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in 2007.

Eddie Jordan’s imitation 76ers needed some help.
Jordan stationed members of the media around the court as part of a drill to better understand his Princeton offense. Holding a microphone, Jordan asked for a dribble handoff, only to watch a sports writer attempt a bounce pass.
“I’m going to be a coach the rest of my life, not a player personnel director,” Jordan laughed.
His hand-picked media team badly needed some work on perfecting Basketball 101.
