PLAYER NOTES:
–F/G Andre Iguodala called the hiring of Rod Thorn “definitely a step in the right direction. He was with Ed Stefanski in Jersey when they went to the Finals two years in a row. We’re going to make moves to get better.”
–Representatives for G Allen Iverson have unsuccessfully contacted the Sixers, Nets and numerous other NBA teams to see if they’d be interested in Iverson playing for them in 2010-11. It’s a tough sell after a season in which he played three games for the Grizzlies before leaving the team, then playing 25 for the Sixers before sitting out the rest of the season, in part because of his daughter’s unspecified illness. Iverson spent his first 10-plus NBA seasons in Philly.
–G Willie Green said participating in Basketball without Borders in Senegal this summer was a life-changing and humbling experience. “It really makes you appreciate the style of living that we’re able to have in being fortunate enough to play basketball for a living,” Green said. “Being here so makes you appreciate the things we have, the things we love. It really brings you back to reality.”
